Introduction and Tips
[How to Use Project J]
Project J is a website that is very easy to use as a reference. Here are some tips on maximizing your learning process.
- Don't just watch! Read, too!
How can you learn based off of videos? When you have videos from places like Youtube, you're limited only to condensed, 10-minute maximum lessons (which is good for an "on-the-go" lesson), but the best way to learn is to view the articles. They will be able to contain more information than the videos. We're basically saying that this is another way, too!
- The forum is your friend!
The people we hope will be on the forum will be glad to help you in learning japanese and the cultures that come with it. There will hopefully be a bunch of active people who participate in the forums.
- Grab a Notepad! Take notes!
The very best way I learned was grabbing a pencil and paper and writing this down for quick references and studying. When you write down these notes, you learn much easier from others. You'll catch yourself speaking more easily, and then understanding more of the language as you read. It's as essential here as it is in school.
- Say more than "Baka" and "Kawaii."
To you otaku-crazies out there, I have advice to give. If you're here to drool about animes, do so in the appropriate place in our forum, but this place is for people who really want to learn the language. It takes a little dedication, but by far, you guys have the most potential to understand the language after being exposed to it for some time. Don't lose faith and just talk about your favorite anime. Ganbatte! You'll get the groove of it, soon.
- It's Never, Ever, Ever Too Late
I could care less if all the scientists in the world proved this to me, it's never too late to start learning about something, especially something as appealing as Japanese culture. You could be perfect for learning and not want to learn at all! It's the drive and passion of learning that allows people to succeed. Your folk's word of the day is "Ganbarimasu," or "I'll do my best." Take this to heart, and you'll be in the swing in no time.
